les
There is not much on this lens available(one review at PopPhoto and one at http://www.ephotozine.com/equipment/tests/testdetail.cfm? test_id=117, plus very scant info on http://www.photographyreview.com/pscLenses/35mm,Zoom/Sigma,20-40mm,f- 2.8,EX,DG,DF/PRD_96752_3128crx.aspx). Any users around who could share their experience ?
alon_hamburger
I have that lens. It's a nice peace of glass BUT on close range (about 30 cm) the auto focus have a deviation - so you need to work manualy in order to have focus at close range. I have seen that problem on other lens (not just mine) and I have read about that specific problem (I think even here).

niels_de_boissezon1
I've seen a review in "Réponse Photo" (serious french photomagazine) where it got a optical rating of 33/40 (consumer grade Canon equip hovers around 30/40 and L-glass around 36-39/40). According to them performance is average at 2,8 at all focal lenghts. It becomes very good at 5,6 in the 20-30 mm range but performnace at 40mm never rises above good level even at f8-11. Concerning build quality: I personnaly have a Sigma 28-70 EX DF of similar construction. It's all plastic but so far it has withstood sprinkling of water and a 4 foot drop on dirt ground (with the lens cap on) without any problems. It is rather noisy and slow btw.
