dave_sanders
my friend just bought the lens hood and adapter for the 50mm f/1.8II. two questions for those who have this setup 1) where is it best to mount your filter? before the hood adapter or hood adapter first and then the filter? is it best to have the filter closest to the front lens element as possible? 2) when a polarizer is mounted in either position, will it vignette? thanks for your help guys/gals... dave
basscheffers
Between the hood and the lens. That way, there is "more" hood to stop any glare on the filter. Wether you will get vignetting depens on the size of the hood and any filters. Try it and see. When not using filters, I find a hood not needed on the 50/1.8II as the front element is set so deep anyway.
jay_.
I use a Nikon screw-in rubber hood leftover from a 50/1.8 Nikkor I no longer own.
