Well it says E.Leitz Wetzlar... but what is it???

Recommended Posts

Can someone help me with this. I got it at a garage sale. I have no

idea.. the only markings are E. Leitz Wetzlar. it has two spools for

35mm film i am assuming. but no lens or shutter or anything. no

trigger button. one side flips open, and there is only a piece of

glass on either side of the thing. one is red. the other clear.

I put photos of all sides of this thing, and apart as well... I would

greatly appreciate any info someone may have as there isn't enough

markings to really even do a search on this... Is it a camera..

sorta.. is it a neg viewer... sorta.. is it a microscope thingy..

sorta... I dunno!!! Please help :)

Excellent. Thank you both very much for the replies. I'm not too sure how it works. but now that I have a name I can do more research.. doesn't appear to be worth too much, but thats ok. it's still an interesting piece of photographic equipment. The one I have is different than the ones they showed in the photos on google.. mine is older im sure, Judging by the Leitz logo, and knowing how that has changed..

thanx again for the info. if anyone else has more, please feel free to post it...

I checked the LUG archives and came up with a lot of questions ("what's that thing for?") and <a href="http://mejac.palo-alto.ca.us/leica-users/v01/msg14020.html">this</a>.<p>For a picture of the ELDIA in use, click <a href="http://www.geocities.com/yoheisuzukawa/leicant/leicant5.htm">here</a> and scroll down. Check also <a href="http://www.photo.net/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg?msg_id=000eXE">this thread</a> on this site; the last contributor seems to actually have used an ELDIA.
