chris_tennyson
Can someone help me with this. I got it at a garage sale. I have noidea.. the only markings are E. Leitz Wetzlar. it has two spools for35mm film i am assuming. but no lens or shutter or anything. notrigger button. one side flips open, and there is only a piece ofglass on either side of the thing. one is red. the other clear. I put photos of all sides of this thing, and apart as well... I wouldgreatly appreciate any info someone may have as there isn't enoughmarkings to really even do a search on this... Is it a camera..sorta.. is it a neg viewer... sorta.. is it a microscope thingy..sorta... I dunno!!! Please help :) http://www.christennyson.com/leitz.html

chris_tennyson
Excellent. Thank you both very much for the replies. I'm not too sure how it works. but now that I have a name I can do more research.. doesn't appear to be worth too much, but thats ok. it's still an interesting piece of photographic equipment. The one I have is different than the ones they showed in the photos on google.. mine is older im sure, Judging by the Leitz logo, and knowing how that has changed.. thanx again for the info. if anyone else has more, please feel free to post it... al_kaplan1
It was often used for printing B&W slides on positive print film, and at one point I believe you could even get 35mm perforated paper in bulk rolls.
oliver_s.
I checked the LUG archives and came up with a lot of questions ("what's that thing for?") and <a href="http://mejac.palo-alto.ca.us/leica-users/v01/msg14020.html">this</a>.<p>For a picture of the ELDIA in use, click <a href="http://www.geocities.com/yoheisuzukawa/leicant/leicant5.htm">here</a> and scroll down. Check also <a href="http://www.photo.net/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg?msg_id=000eXE">this thread</a> on this site; the last contributor seems to actually have used an ELDIA.
