Nikon D100 shutter delay problem

I'll be calling Nikon on Monday, but I was wondering if any other

D100 users have had this problem. When I press the shutter release

button, the camera is waiting up to 2 seconds to expose the image.

I've tried all shutter speeds in manual and program, with the same

results. The image records fine. I've checked the menu modes and I

cannot find anything wrong. I'm guessing a shutter problem?

Chris,

I have a D100 for 6 month now and never saw anything like this. The response is always crisp and immediate.

One thing that you might want to check is the focus setting. Try shooting with the focus set to manual and see if the problem persists.

Chris,

just one thought, it might sound simple but one never knows: is the self-timer activated by mistake?
I'd move the selection wheel to see if this is the reason for the misbehaviour.

Good luck!

I just had this problem with my Nikon D100. No matter how I set the shutter speed it was very slow. I tried resetting my D100 several times but to no avail, the shutter speed remained very slow. I went into my menu settings and on #24 "anti-mirror-shock-mode" it was turned to the "on" position for whatever reason. I switched the setting to the "off" position and now my shutter speed works perfectly.
