giorgio_bianchi
Ok, I'm here again asking about mount adapters. I Wonder if there exist an adpater for mounting OM Zuiko lenses on Canon manual bodies with FD mount. GB
joe_margetts
Why?
david_goldfarb
Not possible without adding optics to the system or losing infinity focus. The registration distance (flange to film) for Olympus OM mount is 46mm, and FD mount is 42mm.
richard_oleson
i don't think the 42/46mm difference would be a problem, since it allows 4mm for the adapter.... but i'm not aware of an adapter that does this. :)=
awahlster
I have seen just recently an adapter as part of a larger group auction of Canon FD equip that will mount an OM lens on a FD body as to weither it maintains infinity focus the auction did not mention. And since I was not interested in the other items in the auction I didn't mark it . You might try Stephan Gradys site he sells many different adapters. david_goldfarb
Well, maybe, but 4mm isn't much for an adapter. Ever use the FD Extension Tube 5M (5mm)? It's pretty tight.
david_goldfarb
On the other hand, I take that back--there is a Nikon-FD mount, and the Nikon registration is 46.5mm so maybe you can slip an adapter in there.
neild
I own an OM to EF (EOS) adapter, it is 2mm thick (and cost a fair bit). It maintains infinity focus without optics, so it would be possible to make one for OM to FD. Whether anyone does is another question... david godfrey
Canon FD bodies are the thinnest of the manufacturer's bodies, so several adaptors are avaliable- I've seen several Pentax Screw mount convertors. I would say unless you've got a really special lens it isn't worth worrying about- you lose any automated control and its stop-down metering only. SRB can provide them, and they do crop up in the more esoteric of second-hand shops.
