milco_van_klingeren
Are there people that have experimented with small pieces of foam in the P67 body to reduce the vibration and noise produced by the mirror ? In my opinion it must be possible to improve this in a easy way. The metalish sound of the slap is disturbing me most.
d._gonzalez
I've tried mounting foam in many different configurations on the upper box housing. There were two problems of note, either of which were serious enough to nix the idea.
The first problem is that the mirror assembly includes a geared cam that must ride to its end before engaging the shutters release safety. The foam would block this action and make the system prone to jamming.
The second problem was that copius amounts of foam seemed to have little material effect on either the noise or vibration levels generated by the sys- tem.
A third problem, only applicable to fr- ont or rear edge foam mounting, was that the foam would mark the mirror surface.
Danny Gonzalez
