yun_chen1
Good news from Hasselblad: the Xpan II ! I have an Xpan body and two lenses. Good system. Unique system. But I have been waiting for same improvments. I think many poeple have been waiting as me too.

audun_sjoeseth1
B to max of 540s! Why did't they add T?
yun_chen1
Bad, too bad: Still needs an other viewfinder attached for 30mm lens. Why not incorporated? I have now the 45mm and 90mm. I want to buy the 30mm lens but hate the big attached viewfinder which is used for framing only.
gyuri
How can I get any information about the exact shutter time lag of both models? One of my friend has an XPan, and they would like to use for their flash pictures.
jesse_kramer
GREAT NEWS, I have all three lenses and love the system. I traded a collectable mint Leica body for a new Xpan and the 45 and 90 in november. I just bought the 30. An improved body sounds great. Any news on pricing?? Robin Smith
Doesn't seem a big deal to me really. I still wish they would provide at least one fast f2 35mm format-only lens for the system. I guess one of the problems with this would be the possibility of making a horrible mistake and trying a panoramic shot with the 35mm-only lens. bill_pearce
Let's hope that they have improved the soft finish. Bill Pearce
fotografz
Hugh, I wouldn't fret. The news isn't big. It's small. About the only real tangable thing is the addition of 2nd shutter flash ability. Why they didn't include TTL flash is beyond me. I also can only hope they used something other than soft putty for the finish. That camera scratches just looking at it sharply. Takes great photo's though.
_________1
"Takes great photo's though"-Marc. Thought that it was the photographer who did that :p
nicholas_wybolt
I contacted Hasselblad USA regarding availability and pricing. I was told that the XPan II (in kit form) would be available for delivery to dealers by mid-May with an expected street price of approximately US$2,300. -Nick
jimvanson
hey hugh...lets pretend it's a digital with all it's deprecation. that being the case I'll buy it off you for 1/3 what you paid for it buddy...I'll be doing you a favor!
cl_ho2
If I really need to take panoramic photos, I will go to 6x17 cm format (Fuji or Linhof 120 panoramic camera). The image size is much much bigger than that taken by Xpan ! I won't pay that much for a 135 format and I won't consider Xpan, XpanII, III, IV or whatsoever ! hugh_jaramillo
I read the specs for the new camera, the changes in relation to the way in which I use mine are not that big of a deal, I use mine for weddings at 1/30 F8 with flash at all times for indoor stuff. Now, when they incorporate T and TTL we may be forking some money again. Regards Hugh
squareframe
CL Ho, I do believe the Xpan market just might attract photographers that are interested in hand-carrying their cameras and enjoying the mobility and freedoms it offers. the professional photographers that I know that specialize in sailing and nautical photography have told me the Xpan is by far, the camera of choice, and the camera that has opened up their photography the most. looks like great fun .. ttsweet
There are several MAJOR improvements for xpan devotees, of which I am one: 1. 9 minute longest exposure on "B" 2. Multiple exposures, which I use a lot. 3. moving the ISO dial to the camLED 4. I'll use the rear curtain synch, which I use occasionally w/ my normal 35mm camera. ....along with several minor changes. You will not benefit from the XpanII upgrade if: 1. you don't shoot long exposures in the 4.5 minute range (doubled for reciprocity) 2. you don't shoot multiples 3. never accidentally change the ISO when handling the camera 4. don't use or care to use flash with it. Also, before all of the pan stitchers and 120 croppers pipe up, if you intend to submit to a stock agency, they want the full transparency. Xpans are the film of choice by a great number of agencies for the practical reason that they can store more of them. Also, the medium format sharpness is a great big plus! miguel_lopes
One of the "XPAN II's" improvements over "XPAN I" is'Improved IR film performance for high speed B&W IR film '. What do they mean with this, and how does it works on camera. Is it a special metering system for this film, or else?Thank you Miguel

mick_cookson
I've always felt that the Xpan should have one function- the ability to choose WHEN the film advances. I think that the advance shouldn't happen until either the finger is released, or indeed the shutter pressed again. Then we can do street panoramics with 'silent running' like the Leica boys. Just a thought, since not all of us use them in the middle of nowhere.... Mick
robert_meyers
Ok, adding to an old as heck thread, but... Couldn't you set the camera for a second exposure (multiple exposure mode), cap it, put it in your coat, and snap a blank pic to advance it? Standard Contax G series trick. Figured I would add it since this thread came up when I was researching the Xpan.
