doug_meek1
Hi Everyone. I've read numerous postings about Kodak Readyload holders having light-leak problems in the older 2-sheet configuration. However, I recently bought the new single-sheet holder and have experienced small leaks in about 20% of my shots. I have not read any other postings where complaints were lodged against this new style holder. Has anyone else out there experienced similar problems with the new holder ? For what it's worth, I've never had a single leak with my Fuji Quickload holder. Thanks in advance for your comments.
doug_meek1
I should add that I shoot only Kodak film in the Kodak holder and Fuji film in the Fuji holder.
ed_candland1
I had some light leaks with a Readyload I bought a year ago. I called Kodak and they sent me a new holder. It seems that the one I had wasn't the latest version. So far the new one seems fine, but I haven't shot much film with it yet. Also for some reason with the new one I need to bend the film slightly forward to get it to slide in the holder. Not sure if this is normal or not. Good Luck and try calling Kodak. They are pretty good about things like this.
steve_hamley
Doug, I've shot Fuji and Kodak films in a Kodak single-sheet Readyload holder without problems. But I do try to use Fuji film in a Fuji holder.... Thanks! Steve
dan_smith
It's a Kodak product, what else can you say? These things have been plagued with intermittent problems from the first day they were introduced. They haven't lived up to the advertising. It does sell more film though as people have to shoot more than a few of every scene or setup in hopes that at least one will be OK.
mike_rosenberg1
There have been some problems with the new Readyload holders. They changed the design and the new holders do seem to have a light leak that is intermittant. These new holders have slots on the sides for graflocks. In communicating with several others on the list it seems to be more prevelant with certain cameras, like the Master 2000 (which is what I have). A simple solution that stopped the leaks is to use electrical or a good plastic black tape along the seams. I have been in contact with Kodak, and they were very responsive. They did say they are trying to redesign the holder - which is not trivial. Perhaps someone from Kodak is monitering this site and will contribute. david_hall6
Check to make sure the pressure plate is applying full and even pressure when there is no film in it. A year or so ago I went to a major LA camera dealer to buy one. I got it home and noticed that the plate was partially open when there was no film in it, which would mean no film flatness and probably a light leak WITH film in it. I took it back and was offered another, which had the same problem. It turned out the entire batch had the same problem, so I went home empty handed. Anyway, check the back plate. dgh
