mario_mab
Hello, Does anyone have information about the Silvestri RS 45 (6x9)? Though, the Mod. H (6x12...?)looks interesting too. Even in their web site there is nothing written about it, besides that it is a metric camera, whatever that means. I would appreciate any info. Thank you. tor_kviljo1
Hello Mario Don't know about the Silvestri, but I should inform You that a metric camera is a camera-lens combination spesially calibrated (& very expensive) to do photography for mapping/metering purposes. Typically, archaeologist, technical constructeurs sometimes use these to produce pictures where they can measure distances directly on the picture. Thus the metric camera usually/allways have a reseau-plate of glass in front of the film and with fiducial marks etched into it to produce reference marks on the film (necessary to compensate for film-shrinking/movements). As so, they are not practical for pictorial photography if they can not be converted (reseau-plate removed and ordinary film-guid inserted instead). Hope this helps
