nigel whitaker
I've just bought a small camera at a table top sale, an Akio Arette Super P, so the markings say. It has a Compur SVS leaf shutter, a 45mm f2.8 Color-Isconar lens, and lever wind on the base. It's not a rangefinder, but has a brightline viewfinder. Takes 35mm film, and appears to work fully, although I have not yet put film through it for exposure testing. I have looked on search engines, and have found a source of a reprint manual, but no other sources of opinion or value. Has anyone out there seen one of these before? And if so, what would be a ballpark value for this charming little camera? Thanks in advance, Nige.
h._p.
I seem to recall that the Arette was sold by Boots the Chemists in the UK. If it's the camera I'm thinking of it was a low end 35 similar in many ways to the Ilford Sportsman. I think it dates from around 1965.
Brian
Harvey, the Boots camera was the Beirette, wasn't it? Sorry Nigel, that's not much help is it. The only low-end viewfinder camera from that era that I recall with the winder on the bottom was the Balda. Anyway, if it's in that class, it's worth about £10.
