terry_rory
Nice pic Tony. The 'qualities' of your Summar pics keep reminding me of the Devon photographer James Ravilious (now deceased) who used to favour this type of lens. Try and get a copy of 'An English Eye' to see what I mean. He used to use a light yellow filter and a modified hood on his pre-war uncoated Elmars/Summars/Hektors. He also favoured Tri-X exposed at ASA 200 and pulled in dev. (D76) He used these lenses on an M3 (with adaptor) and seperate shoe mounted viewers. (VIOOH or something?) Any more pics Tony? (Nice B&W landscapes maybe?)
todd frederick
Tony, One of the cameras my friend gave me to sell is a IIIa with a Summar. I think I may put some film in it and see what I get. I really like the smooth feeling in your photos. I used one a few years back and got some very moody images. I'll try to find a couple to share. roger c
That really *does* look like a 1936 photo! Was it the camera's first roll? ;-)
tony_brookes
The picture was taken in March 2000 at a Hill climb in which I was competing in my 1933 Alvis speed 20.
john_r._fulton_jr.
I have never heard of the Alvis. Is it in the photograph? Perhaps the #8 car? Just curious.
