christoph_frick1
Two weeks ago I was whining here about having been told that it would take 8 weeks to repair my M6TTL in Solms. Today I got it back already. I could follow the progress via Internet in Leica's Repair Tracking system. A Leica person in Solms told me that (i) items under warranty get priority; and (ii) currently they are not too busy in the repair workshop in Solms, therefore the quick turnaround. I wish the same good luck to everybody else who is waiting to get stuff back!
oliver_s.
You lucky rat, I'm so envious :-)<p>Some years ago, Leica was notorious for having the worst customer/repair service of all brands present in Germany. Your report isn't the first one to verify that this has changed in Leicaland. Elsewhere, you're still SOL.
robert_clark
Oliver, I had an excellent turnaround of one week, last summer, after I first emailed them and asked them if they could be quick. Since I would only be in Germany for three weeks and I wanted to pick the M6 up before I left for India, they obliged.
jay_.
I thought Leicas, because they're all mechanical except for the meter, are robust, reliable and never need service ;>)
christoph_frick1
Jay, it was the meter which went mad; I was told a potentiometer was broken.
jay_.
I was just kidding. I had an M6 which the framelines mechanism snapped, an M2 which the shutter drum/spring/bearing assembly broke, and several M's on which the slow speeds hung up necessitating an overhaul. The "electronics" (read: meter) have never gone sour on any of my M's...however my M7's are so new that I don't want to boast, lest I jinx myself ;>)
