c._h._h.
Hello, I was wondering if anybody knew how to advance the film in an Elan 7E with the lens cap on. I need to know how to do this because I want to take the film out in mid roll with a leader left out so that I can switch films without having to use all of the frames and so that I can use the rest of the film at a later date by advancing the film to the frame where I left off. I called Canon customer support and they explained to me that it could be done using the creative mode but the guy was rambling on and lost me after a few seconds. Could someone please tell me how to do this? Thank you, CHH
dsankter_qed
from memory cfn 2 must be set to 1 to ensure the film header is left out. you need to record the frame number you were up to (permanant pen on the plastic cannister is easiest) as well. when you put the new film back in select manual mode choose the smallest appeture (f22 say) and the fastest shutter speed (1/4000 for example). put the lens cap on, cover the viewfinder, and motordrive away until you reach the number you wrote on the film cannister. check the cfn in your manual but other than that, thats how i do it (on a 7e). ruffstep_.
also note from above - when you rewind the film, your camera must be switched on with the creative mode (AV TV etc) to allow the film leader to remain out. The numbering is very accurate - there is no need to leave extra frames after you re-insert the film
derek_linney
Also, switch the lens to manual focus when shooting the blank shots to reposition the film.
scott_currie1
All of the above info is correct, I just did this on my Elan7 a couple of days ago.
phule
Set the camera to "M" Set the shutter speed to 4000 Set the aperture to 22 Set the lens to "Manual Focus" Fire away.
