Mary Doo
Basic Guidelines: In the strictest sense, nature photography should not include "hand of man elements". Please refrain from images with buildings or human made structures like roads, fences, walls. Pets are not permitted. Captive subjects in zoos, arboretums, or aquariums are permitted, but must be declared, and must focus on the subject, not the captivity. Images with obvious human made elements will likely be deleted from the thread, with an explanation to the photographer. Guidelines are based on PSA rules governing Nature photography which also cover the Nature Forum. Keep your image at/under 1000 pixels on the long axis for in-line viewing. Note that this includes photos hosted off-site at Flicker, Photobucket, your own site, etc. Each member please post no more than just one image to this weekly thread per week. If the information is available, many members appreciate information on your approach to making the image and the names, both common and scientific, of the subject(s). However, while encouraged, these are not required as a component of your contributions. ------------------------------------------------------------ Solar Eclipse 4/8/2024: Is anyone planning to capture the eclipse today? It would be nice to see some of your photos. Initially I hadn't planned to go anywhere for it, but then I stumbled upon some info just a few hours ago - that we can expect to see about 90% of the eclipse right here in Cape Cod. What a delightful surprise, especially when the weather forecasts a sunny day - which is unexpected because all we got was rain for days and days. Can't wait to see how your shots turn out. ------------------------------------------------------------- Masai giraffe alongside her calf. The golden hues of the grass contrast beautifully with the patterned skin of the giraffes.

Mark Keefer
It was a clear morning and day right up until the eclipse. Once again these are the cards I was dealt from Southeastern Pennsylvania. Still consider myself lucky to have experienced this and pulled off about 500 shots. 5 2 Cheers, Mark

gary green
I haven't posted in this forum for quite some time given that my primary interest is in old film cameras. However, I took my Pentax K5 fitted with an old Sigma 70-300 APO Macro II lens to Cedarville, Ohio for the eclipse. I was expecting about 2 minutes of totality but got less than a minutes worth. This is a crop of my best shot (dummy me ... I was initially trying to use autofocus and wasted precious time). 3 1
