mike_halliwell
Like a lot of Nikon's rubber bits, like grips etc, they seem to expand and no longer fit in their original position. Sadly, my sweat seems to do a real number on grips etc...☹️ That's what seems to have happened to my DK-33. It won't go back into or stay in it's slot as it's too big in circumference. One side will go in but the opposite side pops out. It obstructs the eye sensor too... grrr! Anyone else get this problem? (and yes, I know my VF glass needs a clean!) c_watson1
Funny how the old stuff eventually dried out but rarely(if ever?)did this. Materials cheap-out, I suspect.
mike_halliwell
Indeed! However, if it's just mine that's gone bad, maybe it's my chemistry that's off? 🤔
ilkka_nissila
I haven't had rubber failures in my Nikons while living in Finland but when I was in Boston, the rubbers did stretch out a bit on a couple of cameras. I suspect it might be the humid and warm (relatively speaking ;-)) climate there.
