Matt Laur
Note: Consider keeping uploads no larger than 1600 pixels on the long side when it matters, and sticking with 1000 pixels when the image feels no pain at that resolution. On data size/compression, try to keep things under 1mb, shooting for 600kb when you can stop there. Note that this includes photos hosted off-site (at Flickr, Photobucket, your own site, etc). New to this thread? The general guidelines for these Wednesday threads are right here: https://www.photo.net/forums/topic/398109-guidelines-for-nikon-forum-wednesday-image-threads. For now, we're sticking with 1, 2, or 3 images per week as you see fit. At our latitude, we're seeing lots of fiery colors in the deciduous trees, but other stuff is staying green and even bearing berries, of a sort. It's a good week for colors, so I suspect we'll see some this Nikon Wednesday, right?

ShunCheung
Since Matt Laur asked for it, but there is not much foliage color at where I live (San Francisco area), at least not yet until well into November, I am dipping into the archives. This is an old picture from 10 October, 2008 at the Harriman State Park in Upstate New York (but actually not very far from New York City). Nikon D700 with the 28-70mm/f2.8 AF-S @ 28mm, f8, 1/80 sec and base ISO 200.

ShunCheung
Music Director laureate Michael Tilson Thomas (MTT) conducted the San Francisco Symphony to perform Beethoven's Symphony 9 at the Davies Symphony Hall. The four soloists were with him right after the performance. MTT was music director there for 25 years and stepped down in 2020. Unfortunately, a year later he was diagnosed with a serious form of brain cancer, similar to what senators Edward Kennedy and John McCain had. Typically patients only survive for a year or so. I am glad MTT is still able to conduct after two years but he is clearly not well. We first saw MTT conduct the Los Angeles Philharmonic when my wife and I were students, and he was a young conductor in his 30's. ilkka_nissila
A new light rail started in Espoo and Helsinki on Saturday and it passes by the university where I work. It has been interesting to see bus traffic being partially replaced by the metro and now the light rail. We used to have a really extensive bus network but I guess because the rail traffic doesn't produce local emissions it is preferred. However, it changes the value of apartments quite a bit and so people who live close to the new rail lines get to enjoy the benefits while others are ... enjoying the relative peace and quiet I guess. 😉 Z8, MB-N12, Z 100-400mm at 400mm, f/100s, f/9, ISO 160, tripod.
