Nikon Z8 Field Test in the Artic

Joseph, thanks for the link. First of all, Nikon supplied a 600mm/f4 TC as well as a prototype Z8 to the author. There is clear tie between him and Nikon. However, I am very glad he pointed out that the MB-N12 grip is not well designed. It seems large and it is disappointing that it cannot take the large EN-EL18d battery, as a lot of previous grips for e.g. the D850, etc. could. It is also predictable that the EN-EL15c battery doesn't last that long in the cold. Otherwise, in a lot of ways the Z8 is just a smaller Z9 with a few features missing.

Steve Perry has a new video on the Z8, after shooting with it for a week. There are few surprises, but battery life using the EN-EL15c is on the shorter side, compared to the Z9/EN-EL18D. Also the SD card is a drag if you need to use it. Both of those are not surprises. The battery is not a problem, especially if one doesn't shoot video. I would just carry more batteries.
