james_burnham1
Hi all, I've run into something new (on a trip of course). All of a sudden the aperture ring on my Canon FD 500 L series lens bogs down when mounted. I can kind of move it, but I need to force it, and it doesn't click into the proper places. When I remove the body it works fine. I tried it with multiple A1 and F1n bodies and the same issue, so I don't believe it is the body. Any ideas? jim_bielecki1
That is strange, it sounds like the lens mount is putting stress on the aperture ring. Is the mount loose? Grasping at straws here.

Over the next 24-48 hrs is became harder to mount/unmount, and a gap appeared between the body and the lens connection. I think the entire mounting mechanism needs reconstruction/repair. I've since shipped it to Steve in Mandan ND for repair. Thank you for responding. I'm just thankful this happened in the last couple of days of the trip instead of the beginning.
