Voigtlander Vitessa

I was gifted a Vitessa that belonged to the father of one of my parents’ friends. It looks as if the beam splitter needs to be re-silvered, as when I look through the rangefinder, there are no images that need to be lined up in order to focus. Is there anyone out there that does this type of work, or services the Vitessa in general?

Even when fully working the rangefinder isn't easy to see properly, especially through spectacles.

However, I was surprised that the selenium meter was still working and reasonably accurate on my 63 year old example of Vitessa L. The Ultron lens is nice too. DSC04100s.jpg.5497aa5c74d7ed228c33a23eebcfc8ef.jpg

Taken at f/2.8 IIRC.

I seem to have an affinity for cameras with a quirky wind-on mechanism. I quite like the Werra iii that I have as well, and the early version of Canonet with its lefthand bottom-mounted lever wind. Or maybe I'm using it upside down and the finder is on the bottom? 🤔

I know, in theory, they’re all supposed to stay locked down but I’ve seen Vitessa’s, after 65-70 years of on and off use where the plunger did not remain locked down with the doors closed; my question was more just for the OP and his unit.

Was one of the first questions I asked anyone regarding a Vitessa I was possibly interested in buying.
