Matt Laur
Note: In the interests of balancing performance and quality, the topic of image file size and dimensions as normally posted to this recurring thread is under discussion elsewhere in the Nikon forum (the topic is obvious when you look) - please check in there and comment if you have thoughts to share! That's the best place to talk about that particular topic. For now, consider keeping uploads no larger than 1600 pixels on the long side when it matters, and sticking with 1000 pixels when the image feels no pain at that resolution. On data size/compression, try to keep things under 1mb, shooting for 600kb when you can stop there. Note that this includes photos hosted off-site (at Flickr, Photobucket, your own site, etc). Are you new to this thread? The general guidelines for these Wednesday threads are right here: Guidelines for Nikon Forum Wednesday Image Threads. For now, we're sticking with 1, 2, or 3 images per week as you see fit. Still torture testing the new Z9 for this Nikon Wednesday (and me, using it - it's got its own personality for sure), and now trying to set my video AF expectations. So in a fit of cruelty, I sat in a dimly lit room, grabbed the body with at FTZ adapter and a Sigma F-mount 24-70/2.8, then wobbily hand-held the body while having it center on a spun coin on a desktop. Dang if it didn't actually find something to focus on, and held it while I was moving on on three axes, and the quarter was wandering around on the table surface. Below is an ugly crop of a frame grab from the video output. I'm giving the AF an A+ so far, especially considering the non-native lens it was controlling. Looking forward to feeling done learning how the body behaves and just plain using it for its purpose! Happy holidays to all who have some flavor of holiday going on this week. Catch you just ONE more time for 2022 next week. Edited December 21, 2022 by Matt Laur
