Nikon Wednesday 2022: #49

Note: In the interests of balancing performance and quality, the topic of image file size and dimensions as normally posted to this recurring thread is under discussion elsewhere in the Nikon forum (the topic is obvious when you look) - please check in there and comment if you have thoughts to share! That's the best place to talk about that particular topic. For now, consider keeping uploads no larger than 1600 pixels on the long side when it matters, and sticking with 1000 pixels when the image feels no pain at that resolution. On data size/compression, try to keep things under 1mb, shooting for 600kb when you can stop there. Note that this includes photos hosted off-site (at Flickr, Photobucket, your own site, etc). Are you new to this thread? The general guidelines for these Wednesday threads are right here: Guidelines for Nikon Forum Wednesday Image Threads. For now, we're sticking with 1, 2, or 3 images per week as you see fit.

You know that long session - especially now with these Z bodies - where you have to "move in" to the camera, getting menus set up and trying to cram into your head where everything is menu-wise and what you want to have show up on function buttons, which default file and behavior settings you like? Yeah, I'm still in that mode with the Z9.

Sat in the chair next to the Christmas Tree while the wife watched a show, and - of course - ran a couple of shots of the tree while I was getting this new body's lay of the land. What a beast! Careful, or you'll end up with large strings of identical images because it can shoot them at about six billion frames/second. Anyway, my slow crawl into this new camera means you are treated to yet another lazy snapshot this week. So be it! Real project work coming soon. In the meantime, share some photos that look like you actually meant to take them!

Z9 with a 24-70/2.8, testing focus lock and whatnot. Sure enough!
