Searching the MFD database told me that Prontor make extremely good ones, but who distributes them here? I enquired at an otherwise good pro dealer when in Germany but they didn't stock them. Everywhere I go I get offered the same crummy releases, probably all from the same factory in Tanzania or wherever, which have a locking-system cunningly designed to waste my film: the ****** thing sets itself when I'm not looking, then next time I wind on the shutter fires immediately. Is it true that the Linhof release is actually a re-badged Prontor? Might I be happy with a Nikon or Mamiya-branded item? Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

As far as I know the Linhof cable releases are still made by Prontor. At least all my Linhof cable releases were. Like you, I prefer them a lot over the ones from Tanzania...
