samstevens
Many good things about this. The composition, diagonally oriented. Nice feeling to and capture of the dappled lighting. Sweet, warm colors and tones. There’s a stark relationship between the woman and the tall shadow on the left. Without that strong shadow, it’s a softer, more pensive photo. It depends what kind of feel you’re after. I understand the dynamic you were drawn to that includes that shadow. There seems a distance between photographer and subject/scene, observing from afar, some lack of visual and narrative involvement that ultimately leaves me a little cold. "You talkin' to me?" samstevens
Actually, I was previously looking at my phone. On my larger home screen, I'm not getting that same feeling of distance and I'm more aware that her gaze downward works with the downward movement of the stairs and railing. I still feel a little ambivalent about the woman and our relationship to her but that's a gut feeling, hard to put into words. "You talkin' to me?"
