philip_glass
I have searched the threads and the almost unusable "recommendations" section. Apparently the M7's need adjustment every year for drift. Any good recommendations for a repair shop with reasonable rates?
miles_feigenbaum___dallas_
Philip, You can send your glass to MAMIYA AMERICA CORP. ELMSFORD, N.Y. 914 347-3300
jason neymeyer
They only need adjustment *if* the rangefinder becomes misaligned. Not every year....unless you make a habit of abusing your camera.
Send it to Mamiya America or adjust it yourself by follow the procedure posted here. Spearhead
I've had mine at least six years. It's been to Africa, Europe, Latin America, the jungle, the desert, and had lots and lots of film through it. The rangefinder is still dead on. philip_glass
Actually I should have mentioned, my camera's viewfinder is out of alignment vertically. I wouldn't repair it just because a year has gone by. I hesitate to use Mamiya of America because it is so expensive. They seem to want $248 for any kind of repair. brian walsh
You might try California Precision Service at http://www.camrepair.com/ FWIW, I've used a 7 and/or 7II for five years without "drift", although I did have to get used to consistently positioning my eye correctly relative to the viewfinder to eliminate what I had perceived as vertical misalignment.... nicholas_t.
Philip,
If you feel comfortable sending your equipment to NZ, it might be worth it...
My guy is:
Phil Jacobs, 357 Jackson St, Petone, New Zealand. +64 4568 6782
Hang on to the phone and leave a message (talk to him like he is there) - he usually picks up, when he's working. His answerphone is always on... He is the best we have here and it is fairly safe to say he is a genius, he can fix electronics and optics as well as most other things. I have been a customer for 10 years or so... (no I don't have any financial interest...)
