Matt Laur
Note: In the interests of balancing performance and quality, the topic of image file size and dimensions as normally posted to this recurring thread is under discussion elsewhere in the Nikon forum (the topic is obvious when you look) - please check in there and comment if you have thoughts to share! That's the best place to talk about that particular topic. For now, consider keeping uploads no larger than 1600 pixels on the long side when it matters, and sticking with 1000 pixels when the image feels no pain at that resolution. On data size/compression, try to keep things under 1mb, shooting for 600kb when you can stop there. Note that this includes photos hosted off-site (at Flickr, Photobucket, your own site, etc). Are you new to this thread? The general guidelines for these Wednesday threads are right here: http://www.photo.net/nikon-camera-forum/00W7km. For now, we're sticking with 1, 2, or 3 images per week as you see fit. See, it's midnight and I'm supposed to be loosening my cravat, sipping a bit of bourbon, telling the butler he can turn in for the night, and then leisurely scrolling through a brilliant week's shooting of picturesque landscapes inhabited by compelling creatures and lovely humans - all to launch the Nikon Wednesday thread with style, panache, and a sense of wonder. Nope. I'm picking through a mountain of gear and prepping for an early morning of shooting stills and video on a client's factory floor. What's funny is that I now look at this and think, "Hey! Traveling light for a change!" - no light stands, lights, scrims, backdrops, redundant video cameras, mic booms, 100 pounds of batteries, a drone, c-stands, teleprompter, monitors, and everything else. This feels like going on vacation, it's so minimal. I'm sure I'm forgetting something. But this is a nearly live Nikon Wednesday shot, and maybe I'll have something interesting from the morning's project to share next week. Off to bed! I will dream of you all sharing the glamorous work that I didn't do this last week. Go!

Matthew Currie
Shallow water and white beaches make, I'm told, a nice view from space, too.
tonybeach_1961
I used my original version of the Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 70-200mm f/2.8G VR with my D500 this weekend. That lens is far more suitable to the task of capturing dogs in flight than the Sigma Art 50-100mm f/1.8 I use when f/2.8 isn't enough.
