Didn't dare to aim and focus and shot away. When I scanned it yesterday it went to the trash folder but after looking at it again I started to like it somehow. I'm curious what you think about it as it is.
eric_.
Johann, to me it is a tilted, out of focus photo with poor framing. I think your first idea was the best...no offense meant!
jschweigl
Eric, that's okay. I myself not sure about my feelings for this image, that's why I asked. After all it's out of focus, weirdly framed and so on ... Thanks!

matt_m__toronto_
i kind of like it. i would try cropping a lot of the top (black) area out. this leaves it as a panoramic...see how that feels, fix the horizon and post again. matt

samar_shaheryar
I like the cropped version much better...urban, moody, romantic and mysterious...stylistic, so probably not for everyone, but it appeals to me.
ron_l
i like it better cropped. it has a great emotive feel to it which i think works. i would have liked it to be just a tiny bit less blurred so the figures are more easily recognizable. but i still think it works. michael_kastner
Johann, I like it. It is, of course, outa focus, and that's the best part of it all. I see them but they are outa focus. That's the way they wanted to be seen, too (I think).
matt_m__toronto_
nice...can you try one with horizon fixed just to compare...?
jschweigl
Matt, i replaced the above image with the rotated one. If it doesn't show up it's still in your cache and you need to reload.
al_kaplan1
I like it! I would crop just a bit off the right and a little less from the top than the cropped version shown. I hope this doesn't percipitate a huge "bokeh" argument over the relative advantages of out of focus pictures with Russian glass over Japanese glass! We all know that only a Summilux can give truly gorgeous out of focus photographs!
sandy.
Cropping out the stray lights on both sides (somewhat distracting) and leave the top may give you yet another look. Can you try that and show us?
richard_ilomaki
Johan: Ou of fucus, blurry etc etc. Has anyone ever seen a JWMTurner watercolour which sells for hundreds of thousands? I like it: moody atmospheric almost illicit. What will be happening half an hour later, or the next morning. It certainly is not a portrait to hang on the wall when her mother comes over, like a wedding photo. Good rescueCheers

They obviously weren't paying attention to you . . .
As for a critique: it has some appealing qualities, but I think it falls short of being a "keeper." Alex_Es
Uncropped or cropped this almost throwaway has possibilities. What might they be? Forget contests--you'll win first prizes and that will be the end of you as a serious artist (half-joking). Seriously, I don't see this photo standing up by itself. I do see it as a backdrop, or something in a series, or a poster for something. Save it.
