binocular reflex finder for Technika V 4x5?

Does anyone know if any of the available binocular reflex

viewfinders for various monorail 4x5's can easily be adapted to the

Linhoff Technika V, 4x5 field camera? I know that Linhoff has a

monocular reflex viewer, but I'd much prefer to use both of my eyes

to view the image?

I'm looking for the same for my TK45. There is a company in

Holland that makes an adapter for the Horseman Bino viewer.

Unfortunately, at this point, you have to send them the back. But

they are supposedly working on an adapter that doesn't require

modifying the back. Contact David Cotton (email address below)

and ask him when it will be ready... if enough users call him,

maybe it will happen sooner (I've been waiting almost a year).

Here is the last email I got from David:

 

Dear Sir,

 

Thank you for your enquiry. Sorry for not having been able to

respond to

your request earlier.

The Horseman binocular direct viewer model # 23547, can be

used for both

vertical and horizontal shots.

 

Basically the viewer has two parts:

Firstly a spring loaded support frame clips onto your Linhof

camera ground

glass back.

Next the body of the viewer, which is square (14x14cm), attaches

to this

frame.

 

When you switch the ground glass back from horizontal to

vertical, you

simply reattach the viewer to the support frame so that whilst

your ground

glass back (and support frame) are now vertical, your viewer is

still

horizontal.

 

Hope this makes sense. Also as the frame is hinged to your

ground glass

back, you can swing the whole viewer assembly to one side so

that you can

use a magnifier directly on the ground glass if you wish.

 

Currently our conversion means that we need the ground glass

back from the

customer's Linhof camera in our workshop for a few days, as we

have to

machine a slight change to it's shape.

 

However we are changing our conversion plate design so that it

will fit

directly onto the Linhof ground glass back without the back

needing to come

into us. This is a much better solution for our overseas

customers.

We will keep you informed as to when this new type adapter

plate is ready.

It should be shortly.
