albert_smith
I waited all year for Bike Week here in Florida, knowing that it always offers some great photo ops. This year it rained every day of the 10 day event. I finally tried to go anyway, but the weather killed the event as far as photos of the bikes and people. On the way back to my parking spot after giving up, I saw this outdoor mall which is usually filled with people... it was empty. Since I paid ten bucks to park, I decided to fire off my roll just to make sure it was not a total loss.
I decided to just do some color stuff... fragments, abstracts and contrasts. I never shoot this kind of stuff, but have seen it in books like "Designing a Photograph" by Bill Smith or "Color Vision" by Joe Marvullo, so I thought I'd give it a try. It isn't anything great, just an attempt to salvage something for my effort of loading my camera and lenses up for a day of shooting that never materialized.
 folder

paul hart
Albert: a good lesson in 'how to make the best of a bad job'. I like the shots you found in the mall. I'm also glad to find that Florida and wet old England have something in common - occasionally!

tom_duffy1
Very nice, Albert. strong graphics and beautiful color. the shot of the benches would have benefited from having the near to far in focus. probably would have required a tripod.
albert_smith
Thanks all!
the shot of the benches would have benefited from having the near to far in focus. probably would have required a tripod.
I did shoot a deep focus shot, but I had to use my 35mm lens. I used f/5.6 and 1/15th (there was no light!), but the one with the 90mm lens looked better to me due to less background.

wingell
Very nice, Albert! Wonderful colors and lots of nice angles and shapes. I, too, prefer the 35mm. shot of the benches--a much better perspective and presentation of the color. You should not regret the weather.
