gary_d1
I'm looking to purchase the Sigma 100-400mm f/5-6.3 DG DN OS for my Sony a7rii. The lens has great reviews for the price point. I see the lens was first offered by Sigma not much more than a month ago. I read where there were some focusing issues, mainly in the movie mode, that are (or will be) addressed with a firmware update. My photography skills don't feed my family, so there is no rush to buy this lens. Would you wait a few more months to let the "first run" production bugs work their way out, before buying ?. I'm a reliability engineer for a large aerospace company... so I'm probably overthinking this. Appreciate the replies....

And that has nothing to do with "overthinking" and a lot more with "common sense".
Ed_Ingold
Just to add my two bits, I have a Sony 100-400/4.5-5.6, and find that lens more useful for landscapes and general photography than a 70-200. It takes a little more space (about 1.5") and is heavy, but gives you twice the reach. For run-and-gun photograpy, a 70-200 is still better, and f/4 is more than enough.
