graflite
Hello..... I have an old solenoid sync cord (early 50's) which is in need of small repair. The coiled Graflex cord itself is thick black rubber which is still quite pliable, not brittle at all, but just below the top household plug there is a slight break in the rubber/insulation (not a complete sever) Any recommendations how to repair this? Would electrical or gaffer's tape be best or is there some type of "liquid" rubber/sealant alternative which would harden and do the job? Thanks for any suggestions......GC.............. richard_oleson
There's some stuff called "Liquid Electrical Tape" that comes in cans at hardware stores, about $5 a can i think. I'd use that. rick :)=
chris_eve
I'd use "self-amalgamating" tape ... you'll only need an inch or so ... try and scrounge some from your local antenna fitter, it's used to seal joints on antenna cables. It goes on like "ordinary" insulating tape, then, by chemical reaction between the inside and outside surfaces, congeals into a homogenous (sp?) blob. hal_bissinger
"Self-amalgamating" tape? You people (from the UK?) have such quaint names for things. We used to call that stuff "Gorilla Snot".
