erick_lamontagne
Hi John, I think the first thing you have to do is to leave your Bora 95 behind. You'll definitally bring too much stuff with that elephant. I'd also leave the macro and bring an extension tube and/or a close-up lens instead. I just asked a question in the original Q/A about the "dreampod " for backpacking and somebody sent a post about how he transformed two trekking poles into one tripod. Maybe it's the opportunity to start cutting into the camping equipment too. Since I began carrying photo gear on hiking trip, I switched from tent to tarp, synthetic bag to down even from two AA headlight to one AAA Maglite. You can also bring less clothes but then there's the stink factor... All these cuts give me a 20 pound pack for winter travel plus food and water...and camera gear. As for bags, I think the chest bags from Lowepro or Sundog is a good option (this is what I use). Have a good trip!
erick_lamontagne
Me again. If you're to meet someone at the resupply point, you could ask him/her to bring your second body. Don't forget the batteries, lotsa batteries!
john_cothron
I really appreciate everyone's help, it's been VERY informative. After a lot of thinking.. I think the Kinesis modular system has won out. I'll be sure to let everyone know how it works out! Thanks again everyone.
