JDMvW
Epson Photo Stylus R1800 Does both nice B&W and color. Pigment-based so stays fresh. When I've let it sit too long, I use cheap refills with dye to clean the nozzles.
Glenn McCreery
I just switched from an Epson R2880 to a Canon Pixma Pro 100. The Epson made great prints, but, with infrequent use, it was an ongoing struggle to keep the nozzles from clogging. The deal on the Canon, with the $250 rebate, was too good to pass up. tcyin
Epson Photo Stylus R1800 Does both nice B&W and color. Pigment-based so stays fresh. When I've let it sit too long, I use cheap refills with dye to clean the nozzles. I have the same Epson R1800 which is now over 10 years old by now. Very impressive prints though there's always the occasional need to clear the nozzles. Can you say a bit more about clearing them with cheap refills? Thanks www.neurotraveler.com
JDMvW
Can you say a bit more about clearing them with cheap refills? For sure. there are companies that sell refilled cartridges for a small fraction of the cost of new, original ones. The refills are with dye ink, hence their low cost. They are not completely unusable, but not for high quality printing. However, they are more 'liquid' than the pigment based inks and do a decent job of softening and washing away dried pigments in the nozzles
