alexrevers
Is there a an adapter made to for example mount a 44-2 lens on a Contax G2. Or a M mount lens to a Y/C mount? Can find a lot of them the other way around.. But not to mount a lens on a Contax G2. :( Greets Alex
Heritage Cameras
You could use a combination of adapters for the Helios. The Contax GA-1 Mount Adapter accepts Contax/Yashica SLR lenses, and a generic M42-C/Y adapter fitted to that would accept the Helios 44-2. Unfortunately the GA-1 is quite rare and expensive, and of course there's no direct rangefinder coupling. I don't know how the metering would work, if at all. As for the Leica M lenses on Contax/Yashica cameras, this would only work for macro (close up) shooting, even if you could find such an adapter. Novoflex might make something suitable. Hope this helps.
carbon_dragon
Because the secret to being able to adapt a lens to another mount is that the lens you want to adapt needs to be from a camera with a longer distance between the back of the lens and the film/sensor than the one you want to put it on. Which is why mirrorless cameras can adapt almost anything. Without the mirror box, the lens for those cameras is much closer to the film/sensor, so you can create even empty adapters that merely move the adapted lens to the correct distance from the sensor of the camera.
