Colin O
This might be a bit of an odd question, but... Sometimes I forget what film is in my Rolleiflex. I was thinking of a very lo-tech solution... stick some masking tape onto the camera and just write the film type on it. But I want the tape to be strong enough that it doesn't fall off through repeated inserting/removal of the camera into/out of my camera bag, while at the same time, I don't want it to leave any sticky residue on the camera or damage the camera's leather (or leatherette, whichever it is) in any way. What kind should I get? There seems to be tape with varying levels of adhesiveness. What about this one? It seems to be rated for 150 days' stickiness. Others are lower. But maybe this one would be more likely to leave residue behind... https://www.amazon.co.uk/Scotch-Painters-Masking-Quality-PT24424/dp/B00J9ED1EA/

Ed_Ingold
I use a white paper tape called "scribble strip" on audio mixers to quickly identify the channels. It's easy to write on (blue tape is waxy) and comes off cleanly.

John Seaman
Hmm I wouldn't want to stick tape to a Rollei, it might pull off the leatherette coating. Why not attach one of those little plastic luggage labels to the strap?
Colin O
Thanks for the replies - all very helpful. Finally I went for the eBay item - but John's suggestion is a good one - I might see if I can fashion my own "luggage label" using this eBay doodad, rather than sticking it directly to the camera. Gary Naka
I used to tape the lid from the film box on the back of the camera. It never stayed on very long, so the tape did not matter. They also sell, or used to sell, a plastic pocket that stuck onto the back of the camera and you would slip the lid of the film box into it. Ed_Ingold
Keep notes in your smart phone. Nothing to get all sticky, fall off, or tangle with the strap. Try to standardize on one or two emulsions, so you know how to use them at their best. Once you load the camera, use it up before you forget what you loaded ;)
