Scott Ridgeway www.Scott
I'm trying to decide between the Gossen Digisix and the Sekonic L-208. I use incidence readings for almost all my work and I like the dome on my current Gossen SBC. Looking at pictures of the two meters on the internet, I can see a dome on the Digisix but do not see one in pictures of the L-208. Does the L-208 have a dome? Is it accurate when using it as an incidence meter? Scott Ridgeway
mpo
I own a Sekonic L-208 and yes, it has a diffuser for incident readings. It is not exactly a dome, it's a sliding diffuser with a slight protuberance. According to the manual is equivalent to a dome, not to a flat diffuser. It's a very fine meter, quite precise, I compared it against my Gossen Profisix SBC and Minolta AutoMeter IV, and the readings were exactly the same. This meter is a match-needle type and has a memory of aprox. 15 seconds to match the needle before it turns off automaticaly. As far as I know, this is an advantage over Digisix, that requires you to transfer manually the digital EV reading into the exposure wheel. It also includes a removable hot-shoe mount if you use it with your old M3, Retina or Contessa ;) As I bought this meter when it was a novellity, I paid twice the present price, and still worth it.
