hankg
What year was the improved stray light surpression introduced into the 203FE bodies. Is there a starting serial number available?
audun_sjoeseth1
203FE and 201F were introduced i 94, and I think both have this improved stray light surpression from the start. If todays stray light surpression is a little better, the early models will still be very good regarding this issue. Please correct me if I'm wrong. michel_primout
sorry could tell more about this stray light problem ? and how it has been solved in 203 body ?
hankg
Internal flare is a problem common to all cameras and lenses. Hasselblad improved the internal stray light suppression on their newer generation of cameras and I was wondering when these changes where applied to the 200 series. ulrik_neupert
Better internal reflection coating was introduced with the Hasselblad 553ELX (1989), 503CX (1989) and 2003FCW (1988), well before the 200-series cameras arrived on the scene. hankg
According to Kornelius J. Fleischer from Zeiss in another post "Today, I would replace the 553 ELX immediately with a 555 ELD, because this newer camera comes with a much better straylight suppression"
q.g._de_bakker
I was told that the early version of Palpas (the absorbant stuff that they put on internal surfaces to reduce reflections) was rather thick, so that for purely mechanical reasons not all surfaces were Palpas coated. Now that thinner versions are available, these were treated as well. That may be the explanation for Kornelius Fleischer's preference for ELD over ELX. kornelius_j._fleischer
Here is the background to my comment on the 553 ELX: The 553 ELX was my Hasselblad workhorse until I got my 201 F after photokina 1996. I needed the 201 F to be able to use the FE lenses, the Tele-Tessar 4/350 in particular. Once I had the 201 F, I noticed that this camera has a vastly superior straylight absorption compared with the 553 ELX. So I gave up my ELX. The engineers from Hasselblad told me that the 555 ELD is the first electric Hasselblad with a straylight absorption on the level of the 201 F. hankg
I recieved this response today for this question from Hasselblad USA technical support: " The 203FE and 503CW bodies have featured the Palpas stray light suppression material from the beginning."
