Film Camera Week for March 16

Recommended Posts

Thanks very much! I actually splurged and had the camera overhauled after the shutter started hanging up at the +1/100 shutter speeds --- big improvement afterwards.

Who did you have do the work? And, if you don't mind telling, how much did it cost?

Just for fun I scanned some color slides from 1978. I think 1978 was my record year (at least in college) for shooting slides which on a student budge shooting 700+ in a year wasn't too bad. Of course getting film and processing at cost helped. Summer of 1978: A friend of mine who was getting into photography went with me to Vicksburg for a couple of days. We loaded tent and other gear into the trunk of my massive '71 Impala and headed for Vicksburg. The rain changed our plans, but by the next day we had sun so the Vicksburg Military Park beckoned. A few slides (didn't dust them or spot them)

Friend with Konica C35 (guess where he bought it), Kodachrome 64, Minolta SRT 201 50mm f1.7 MC Rokkor-X

I also shot two rolls of color print film, but haven't located them yet.

The views from the park were awesome, same film and gear

I never dreamed a wide angle lens would be useful so I had to take this photo from quite a distance.

I also brought along my Tamron 85-210 f4.5 zoom but I think I mainly shot prints with it.

another view, same gear

Most of my shots of the Civil War exhibits were done on print film, but here's one from this roll of slides.

I don't think they were supposed to sit on the cannon.

Central Camera in Chicago - it ran about $100 for a complete overhaul. I definitely don’t have the expertise to attempt such work on my own . . .
