george_nedleman
I just installed an Arista cold lt on my Omega B-22. The instructions state that a Y40 filter should be used with multi grade papers. A #1 is supposed to be about Y40. So with that as a starting point, I printed-but I feel "lost" with the number system. Any help out there? My best print from a good neg with almost all middle greys was with the #1 (Kodak) the next was using the #1 . using the #3 straight was too contrasty. Comments? george_nedleman
I'll answer my own question. I talked to someone at arista and he put me on the right track with a new bulb that produces just the right color. I'm changing the light as soon as I rcv. it and I'll keep all informed. james_d._steele
I used an Aristo cold light head for any years and used the bulb that was made for VC papers so that I didn't have to use the Y40 filter. It worked beautifully. I used Ilford's filters and they seemed to work well with all brands of VC papers. So, I guess my advice is to get the new bulb.
