david_smith35
Does anyone have experience of using a 1.4 XE or 1.4 APO converter with the Sonnar 250mm Sa lens? The 1.4 APO converter is supposed to be specifically matched for the 350mm Sa lens, but I was wondering if it has any optical advantages over the standard 1.4 XE when used with the 250mm Sonnar Sa. These two telelconverters are very roughly the same price, so it would seem worth considering both on the face of it. Many thanks David Smith
fabio_scaglione1
Dear David I hava both 250 Sa and 350 sa.The 1.4 apo can be used only with the 350 SA and it's extremly difficult to use because a lot of images are blurred using 1,4 apo + 350 sa on my 203/205.this is my experience. MTF of 350 sa + 1,4 apo are extremly good, but extremly difficult to use even with a strong tripod ( gitzo 1339 ). hope to help you. Fabio
audun_sjoeseth1
APO 1.4EX can only be used with CFE350Sa, CF350, FE350, CFi250 and CF500. It can't be used with the CFi/CFE250SA. I don't know if it can be used with older versions of the 250.
david_smith35
Thank you for your answers. After doing a little more research, it would appear that the 1.4 APO teleconverter is not suitable for use with the 250SA due to the fact that the front element on the converter is somewhat proud and would foul the rear element of the 250SA.
