yun_chen1
What does 'i' of the 'CFi' mean? Or what is the difference between the 'CF' and 'CFi' lens? Thanks.
rick_campbell
Improved. They have different cosmetics on the controls. A better flash connection with a lock. A better shutter spring with a longer lifetime. And, I believe, a plastic bayonet for the lens hood so it doesn't get scratched. Maybe our resident Zeiss gurus can provide more details. jay_.
"increased profits" compared to the all-metal CF series.
roger_michel
it just looks like an "i" -- in fact it's a lower case "j," which stands for "japan." all the lenses are now secretly made by fuji in japan.
yun_chen1
Thank you all. By the way, as I know, the 'i' is just an 'i'. And CFi, CFE Carl Zeiss lenses used by Hasselblad are all made in Germany. The Zeiss lenses used by Contax 645AF are made in Japan.
tak_ming_leung
To me the "i" means "incremental, insignificant improvement at an inflated price".
larry_lambert1
It hasn't been mentioned yet, the focusing barrels move smoother in the Cfi/Cfe series lenses. I like them much better than the Cf series, though I did like the metal construction in the Cf's better. Tit for tat, one step forward one step back.
