Matthew Currie
I was heading into Brandon, Vermont yesterday and saw a bunch of people by the side of the road with scopes and tripods, so stopped to find out what it was, and there, in the distant wetland, was a trumpeter swan. This was, so I'm told, only the second confirmed visit of a trumpeter swan to Vermont. As it happens, I had my camera. It was pretty far away, so even this image is a considerably crop of a 500 mm. shot on DX. Anyway, if you're a serious watcher of birds, and if you are in the vicinity of Brandon, Vermont, you might do well to get in touch with VT birders to see if this critter is still there. It was on Route 73, just west of town, a little west of the railroad tracks, where the Otter Creek floods into a corn field.
Matthew Currie
This computer does not play well with flash player, but I'll try again to add another picture, this a drastic crop, photographically far from fine, but at least you can tell what the bird was.
