howardstanbury Posted March 22, 2015 Share Posted March 22, 2015
Lots of excitement this week as we had a partial eclipse of the sun here in northern Europe. The clouds were a useful eye-saving filter for the first photo, and mirrorless saved the day (and eyes) for the other picture:

<a title="Eclipse starts by Howard Stanbury, on Flickr" href=" src="https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8651/16250989663_100b1f7c78_c.jpg" alt="Eclipse starts" width="800" height="537" />
^ A100 & Tamron 28-300

<a title="Partial eclipse by Howard Stanbury, on Flickr" href=" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7590/16683925850_5ff980bd65_c.jpg" alt="Partial eclipse" width="800" height="535" />
^ At peak about 85% of the sun was obscured (NEX-7/LA-EA2/Tamron 28-300)

<a title="Merton Street /3 by Howard Stanbury, on Flickr" href=" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7589/16678013597_2cfedc94b0_c.jpg" alt="Merton Street /3" width="536" height="800" />
^ On a night photowalk there was a nice low-key scene on one of Oxford's more picturesque back streets (A7/LA-EA4/Sigma 18mm f/3.5)

I see someone has posted a message about posting 'questions' about Sony mirrorless cameras in the mirrorless section of photo.net. I assume that does not include POTW threads and until someone comes down heavy on this harmless thread, please continue to add your selection of pictures taken with Sony/Minolta gear, digital or film, to a maximum of 3 photos.
Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
paul_de_ley Posted March 22, 2015 Share Posted March 22, 2015
Some catching up from me after having been out of the loop thanks to a few super-busy weeks and weekends, with the result that I almost overwrote/deleted these files at the bottom of the imaginary pile in my memory card. All three shot a few weeks ago with a7 + pentax 40 2.8 pancake in Hinkley, CA = the unincorporated town where Erin Brockovich and the local community took action against PG&E's groundwater pollution with chromium-6.

Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

randy_cooprider1 Posted March 23, 2015 Share Posted March 23, 2015
Howard, those cobblestones look painful. I tried walking down a cobblestone street in Charleston SC and it was tricky. Paul, enjoyed the street art but wish it wasn't true. Here in Orlando there are helicopters for rent at reasonable prices.

Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
