howardstanbury Posted March 15, 2015 Share Posted March 15, 2015
Three things from this week:

<a title="Easy does it by Howard Stanbury, on Flickr" href=" src="https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8668/16603315137_11c8cd5de4_c.jpg" alt="Easy does it" width="800" height="599" />
^ Moving pieces into place on a new building in Oxford (A7 & SEL FE 28-70)

<a title="A pair of single sculls by Howard Stanbury, on Flickr" href=" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7605/16169022783_d87436e08c_c.jpg" alt="A pair of single sculls" width="800" height="535" />
^ After all the excitement of Torpids it's back to basic training for single sculls on the Thames (A7 & SEL FE 28-70)

<a title="Bill Kirchen by Howard Stanbury, on Flickr" href=" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7636/16633629978_608304c4b3_c.jpg" alt="Bill Kirchen" width="537" height="800" />

^ Finally, the inestimable Bill Kirchen (once of Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen) treated us to a great night of rockabilly at Tingewick Village Hall (NEX-7 & SEL 55-210). (And, yes, it could have been Woody Allen, but he plays the clarinet, doesn't he?)

As ever, please add your selection of pictures taken with Sony/Minolta gear, digital or film, to a maximum of 3 photos.
Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

randy_cooprider1 Posted March 17, 2015 Share Posted March 17, 2015
Howard, took this with the Nex 3 in b&w mode HDR underexposed -1.7 stops and levels adjusted in PSE 12. Trying to get the built in b&w "look" you exhibited.

Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

howardstanbury Posted March 17, 2015 Author Share Posted March 17, 2015
I like the pattern, Randy.

Are you saying you set the camera to B&W 'Creative Style' and took the picture with 'Auto HDR', both on the Brightness/Color menu?

I'd agree that that should be about the same as 'Rich Tone Mono' on other NEX cameras. I'll have a look at that in the daylight hours tomorrow.
Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

randy_cooprider1 Posted March 17, 2015 Share Posted March 17, 2015
Anders, almost missed the feet at the bottom of the plastic sheeting. Interesting shot.
Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
AJHingel Posted March 20, 2015 Share Posted March 20, 2015
Thanks Randy. The feet, almost lifting off, might be the most interesting element of this surrealistic scene.
See Jack McRitchie's comments to the photo here together with a few elements of context from me.
Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
