I started collecting Minoltas and have 3 SRT cameras now.The last one I got off of EBay for $18.10 is a SR-101. I know this camera is the SRT 201 here in the US. The European and Asian version is the SRT 101b. The SR 101 was sold only in Japan.<br />So if a SR 101 is here it was brought over from Japan or you can buy one shipped from Japan.<br />They even made a black SR 101 I saw it on here. I know Rokkor Files has some info. <br />You can find more information on the Japanese versions like the SRT Super, and SR 505.I think $18.10 for the camera body was a good deal in great working condition. Why is so little information found about it?<br /> How rare is the SR 101 here in the States. If it's the same as the SRT201, the 201 was a very popular camera as was the SRT101. If the features are the same, I can't imagine most buyers would care about the model number. The unfamiliar model number, however, would probably make the SR101 harder to sell since it's not a number people would be searching for when looking for an older Minolta.<br /><br />By "collecting" I'm not sure if you mean you just like the older Minoltas or if you see them as truly "collectible" like vintage Leicas. IMHO, Minoltas are good solid user cameras but do not fall into the category of being collectible or an investment. Also I have other brands. It's what ever I get cheap and captures my eye. My collection with photos is in Classic Manual Camera forum under (My Small Camera Collection). I think it makes much more sense to pay a reasonable price for cameras you like and then actually use them than to pay a fortune for cameras someone else has declared "collectible" and then put them under lock and key in a glass case for fear of getting a scratch that would impair their value. </p> Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
aplumpton Posted January 3, 2016 Share Posted January 3, 2016 <p>The Minolta SRT-201 is a slightly updated Minolta SRT-101 with a hot shoe for flash attachment. Nearly everything else was the same as the SRT-101. Present market prices do not reflect their quality. It and several Minolta lenses were top quality and the SRT-101 was one of few 1966 cameras that had TTL metering (with the Topcon) and in aperture priority mode. Our camera club president in the 80s and 90s was a gentleman who used the camera and objectives almost exclusively and produced many 16 x 20 prints (B&W, sometimes color) of very high quality, winning the yearly competition for overall portfolio from amateur clubs and photographers (about a thousand photographers each year) in our state (province) several times during that period (I managed that only twice).
