steve_smith58
I need to get a Maxxum 9 repaired. Drive lever problem. Some of the functions, continuous and single exposure bracketing, don't function. Anybody know of a repair company or old Minolta tech that could repair it. I don't believe parts are available so probably need a donor camera for parts if needed. Any responses would be welcome.
malcolm_denton
In the U.K. you could try Camera Repair Workshop - dave@camerarepairworkshop.co.uk
In Europe you could try the old Minolta service centre -Runtime Contract in Bremen - repairinfo@runtimecontract.biz
(Note that Runtime do not ship outside Europe)
carbon_dragon
Mark Hama recently repaired my XE-5. That's older but he's repaired newer cameras as well. markhama@comcast.net is his email address I think. He's in Marietta, Georgia.
drjedsmith
The best place left to repair a Maxxum 9 is Runtime in Germany. If you are in the U.S. it may be a little pricey to ship there, but they are hands down, experts on these cameras, and one of the few - maybe even the last - of the places with parts.
steve_smith58
I contacted Runtime. They will not do repairs from the USA due to custom formalities. I then asked them if I could buy parts from them. They will not sell me parts for the same reason. Anybody have any other ideas?
malcolm_denton
There have been long running threads on the Dynax 9 on the following site :
http://www.dyxum.com/dforum/forum36.html
So it might be worth your while posting your query there as well as this one.

I'm assuming you've tried the designated Minolta legacy service centre in the U.S. ?
http://www.precisioncamera.com/
steve_smith58
I have already tried Precision Camera. They can't repair (can not get/do not have parts) the camera. There surely must be a camera repair company somewhere in the USA that can do the repair work.
malcolm_denton
It would seem I was lucky to get my SSM upgrade carried out by Runtime recently,as,based on the list of official repairers shown on the website below, they would appear to be the only remaining 'official' facility that has parts.
http://ca.konicaminolta.com/support/repair/index.html
Even the Japanese repair centre doesn't list it as repairable by them.
I've no idea whether Korea.Australia or China are any better.
malcolm_denton
Steve...
It's raining where I am,so I decided to browse, and there is a parts Dynax 9 for sale on ebay.
http://cgi.ebay.com/MINOLTA-MAXXUM-9-35MM-SLR-FILM-CAMERA-REPAIR-PARTS-/280721003960?pt=Film_Cameras&hash=item415c4695b8#ht_1950wt_1141
Also, another U.S repairer listing Minolta is
http://www.unitedcamera.com/minolta/
steve_smith58
I may have gotten lucky. I found a camera repair shop that says they can repair my Maxxum 9. They evidently have spare parts and/or "donor" cameras. Thanks for all the responses.

steve_smith58
I am not sending the camera to them until the end of the month when I get back from vacation. I will post the results and contact info after I receive the camera back.
steve_smith58
Just received my Maxxum 9 back after being repaired. Camera Repair Service in Pittsburgh, PA was the only repair service that said they could repair it. They had to replace a circuit board. Fortunately, with their resources they were able to find a new board. I couldn't be happier. I now have a functioning camera rather than a paper weight
