brennerrmb
Has anyone experimented with the DRO Advanced Bracketing system in the Sony A900? With the DRIVE button set on BRK D-R+, you take one picture and get three exposures produced by the camera, one underexposed, one right on and one overexposed. The degree of exposure difference can be selected as Lo or High. Can these files then be merged in Photoshop or with special HDR software to get a HDR image? Is this HDR image better (different??) from that produced by the other bracketing techniques that shoot 3 images in succession, each with a different exposure? Why did Sony include this unusual ability to produce 3 images from one shot? Do other cameras have this ability?
ricardovaste
If you should RAW and bracket and combine with software you will get the 'best' result. DRO is only with jpegs, so if you're using that with the bracketing you have less options and Sony's jpegs are generally not that great.
brennerrmb
Richard, on my A900, the files produced by the BRK D-R+ technique are all RAW files.
ricardovaste
Hi Robert. Yes, you can put DRO on any file, but it won't actually take effect on a RAW file. Confusing, I know, but RAWs are pretty much completely unedited original files.
