Need help on Sony w290 vs w230

<p>We are thinking to add a point and shoot camera - either a Sony w290 or a Sony w230.</p>

<p>Should I expect to see a noticeable optical quality drop - for still pictures - from w290's 5x zoom to w230's 4x zoom? Had the same 5x zoom been used in the earlier P&S cameras?</p>

<p>Your thought/experience is highly appreciated.</p>

<p>hummmmm. Not even one reply..... I know this is a SLR forum but thought you may have insight into Sony Point and Shoot as well...</p>

<p>Anyway, in case this post is searched in the future, we have looked at both w290 and w230 in 2 stores. In both cases, the pictures from w230 look better. That may or may not be lens related. We decided to get a w230.</p>
