Alright, alright, I'll actually post a picture rather than just rabbiting on as usual. Maybe if I spend less time on this forum I'll actually take more photos

Photo I took last week in Melbourne where work sent me. Had nothing else to do at night so I wandered the streets and alleyways checking out the graffiti.

A700, Sigma 14mm F2.8, 15 sec @ ISO 200.

For those who might be interested, the 14mm is surprisingly good considering it's price. Pretty sharp (haven't tested it extensively on film yet, I've read that corner sharpness on full frame is not so good) on the A700 and pretty good at auto- focusing even in the dark. I was thankful for this lens as I could never have gotten this shot otherwise. As it was, I was almost right down the the distinctly urine smelling ground of the alleyway trying to capture this view. The things we do.....

Richard, i must admit that I was a bit sceptical about HDR (?) and i was starting to think that it was not much more than a gimmick. But 'Emptiness' is nothing short of spectacular, an amazing photograph.

Thanks Wayne! Very glad you liked it. I actually really like it myself, just because it's so simple really. I'm not a massive fan of the ' HDR' look either. But I use it just to extend the exposure range of the image really. If you took the same shot with your A900, it would probably be able to get the same result from one exposure because of the greater dynamic range the sensor has, but if I want all the details this is the way I've found works for me anyway.

Glad you came out unscathed! A cool shot too, well worth the effort.

RGB have lost their way in an almost duotone wilderness

Hey, the first one was tri-tone :P. Good to see your efforts at keeping film alive Paul :)
Here is another from yesterday. It almost has an abstract feel to it and suprisingly works okay in landscape orientation!
A700 & 17-50
Duo-tone ;-)

Interesting choice of subject, Wayne, though I can't imagine that smelling to nice :(. And to bring us back to the purpose of this thread... sRGB vs RGB ;-). I just uploaded this on flickr and thought, 'this looks a little dull'? I'd forgotten to convert the profile of course.

Careful, you get a lecture from PBM about colourspace!

That is the "happiest" shot I've seen from you for a while. What is that little green bit in the middle? Flare?

Here's one from me. I actually took this months ago and only just got around to scanning it.

Mamiya 6 45mm f8 and between 30-60sec from memory.

00TQuY-136889584.jpg.d7cecfbc38a888e6e9f24be123588d67.jpg

I got accused yesterday (not here) of being 'stuck in my way', which made me laugh as these latest photo's (eg the last one here) are the exact opposite of the stuff I've produced over the last 2 months or so :). I'm not sure what that is? Does it distract, do you think? I ask as I may enter it for a small competition. As far as I was aware, there was no flare in the shot because the sun was just behind the clouds, but i may have to take a closer inspection...

Love your last shot. The point of view is very intriguing.

Richard, yes it is a little distracting, mainly because it is such a different shade of green. You should be able to do a colour correction for that patch on PS pretty easily. But it is a really striking shot, especially from a distance because of the composition.

Thanks, that is one of the things I like about photography, the view of the rocks in real life is not particularly interesting. But throw in a long exposure and it looks totally different. And best of all, you never quite know what will happen as the waves create different patterns and the excitement of getting the film back cannot be matched by any dslr.
