robert_paul1 Posted March 18, 2009 Share Posted March 18, 2009 <p>The Sony 35mm f/1.4 G lens is a carry-over lens from Minolta, with a couple of upgrades. This includes the 'D' function and coatings. The Sony design has one major change- the focus ring doesn't rotate in AF mode, whereas the Minolta version does. The overall diameter is a little bigger on the Sony, 69mm v. 65mm, and the Sony version is 40 grams heavier.</p> <p>However the optical design is the same for both- 10 elements in 8 groups, and the number and shape of the aperture blades are the same.</p> <p>Sony bought the Osaka Minolta factory where the camera bodies and 'G' series lenses are made.</p> Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
