j_kluska
I recentlly had to send my A100 to a Sony authorized repair center in CT for a repair of the LCD screen. I never dropped the camera, but something caused "impact damage" to the LCD, making unusable. (Still scratching my head on that one.) The estimate came back and I nearly fell on the floor. It would almost be cheaper to buy a new camera! Is there another decent firm that does this type of repair work without requiring my first born in compensation? One of the reasons I chose the Sony was because of its attractive pricing as compared to the other two brands. It's enough to make me want to go back to film! Any suggestions would be appreciated. paul_friend
Had a similar (but I knew it was "impact" damage) occurence with KM-7D. Got repair done through KEH for a little bit under $300 (which gave me pause to consider just buying the A100--but decided to stick with the 7D instead of parting with an additional ~$300 at the time). j_kluska
Thanks, Paul. That's about what I was quoted.
drjedsmith
Joe, that's an interesting quandry to be in. Shooting film is nice, though. You could probably pick up a Maxxum 9 for just a bit more, and drive nails with it in between photo shoots. :-)

I could see where an LCD is the achilles heel of modern cameras, though. Maybe someday they'll make a lexan type screen on them?
Best of luck
Jed
j_kluska
Or, maybe its a simple rubber gasket around the edge (similar to the viewfinder)....They make computers impact resistant, why not cameras..(I know..cost...don't ask questions you already know the answer to..)
